Spa & wellness

Karlovy Vary

The Czech Republic has a centuries-long tradition in spa treatment and during the years has earned an exceptional reputation, also thanks to several hundred natural springs and large deposits of mineral-rich mud.

Especially throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Czech spas were among popular places in Europe and were visited by a number of royalty and famous people. We can name, for example, Czar Peter the Great, King Edward VII of England, Austrian Emperor Franz Josef I, composers Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, writers Goethe, Schiller, and Mark Twain, and other great minds of that time.

In the new era after the fall of communism, Czech spa companies were privatised and spas brought back into their previous glory. Buildings were restored, facilities upgraded, and new programs introduced. Today, Czech spas welcome visitors from around the world.

The main reasons for spending some time at a Czech spa include:

  • benefits for your body and soul
  • Czech spa towns offer beautiful historic architecture, natural scenery and social life
  • good value of money
